What makes Baja Malibu different

Most people hear "Baja Malibu" and picture the golf course, and it is a good one, laid out along the edge of the bluff with ocean on nearly every hole. Surfers know it for a different reason: the beach break directly below is one of the more consistent and powerful stretches on this part of the coast, not a place to learn on.

01

The surf break

A open beach break with real size and power, best on a mid tide with a west or northwest swell. It draws experienced surfers rather than beginners, and it is rarely crowded compared to spots closer to downtown Rosarito.

02

The golf course

Nine to eighteen holes run along the bluff with ocean visible from most of the layout, one of the more scenic rounds on this stretch of coast. Access is generally tied to the community or a guest arrangement.

03

A gated, residential community

Baja Malibu is mostly homes and long-term residents, with private security at the entrance. It is a place to drive through and look at, or golf, rather than one with hotels of its own.

04

Staying close by

For a bed, restaurants and nightlife, downtown Playas de Rosarito is about fifteen minutes north. Rosarito Inn sits right on that beach, with the same ocean and an easy morning drive back down to the course or the break.

Not really. It is a powerful, exposed beach break better suited to experienced surfers. Beginners are better off at a more sheltered spot closer to downtown Rosarito.

Can anyone play the golf course at Baja Malibu?

Access is generally arranged through the community or as a guest. It is not a walk-up public course in the way courses in the US often are.

Is there a hotel inside Baja Malibu?

No, it is a residential gated community. Visitors typically stay in downtown Playas de Rosarito, about fifteen minutes north, and drive down for the day.

How far is Baja Malibu from the border?

Roughly 35 to 45 minutes from San Ysidro, depending on traffic, continuing a few minutes south past downtown Rosarito on the coastal road.
